The September 2026 Taupō District Business Sentiment Survey is now open, and we want to hear from businesses across the district.
Amplify, Towncentre Taupō, the Taupō Business Chamber and Love Taupō are working together to understand current business conditions and the outlook for the months ahead.
Run every six months, the survey helps us track how local businesses are performing and how sentiment is changing over time. This round covers business confidence, customer demand, revenue and profitability, workforce needs, investment intentions, key business pressures and expectations for the local economy.
We’re also looking at where businesses plan to invest over the next six months and how local businesses are currently using AI.
Feedback from the survey helps inform local economic development priorities, business support and advocacy, while ensuring the views of Taupō District businesses are represented in discussions with local and central government.
Businesses of all sizes and industries from across the Taupō District are encouraged to take part.
The survey takes around five minutes to complete and closes on 30 September 2026.
Tracking business sentiment over time
The September survey builds on previous Taupō District Business Sentiment Surveys, helping us track changes in business confidence, performance, workforce conditions and the economic outlook over time.
The most recent survey, completed in April 2026, found businesses remained broadly positive about their own operations, although confidence had eased and expectations for the months ahead had become more cautious. Profitability remained under pressure as operating costs and margins tightened, while expectations for revenue, profitability, workforce growth and the wider economy had weakened. Despite this, many businesses continued to signal intentions to grow or invest, diversify, improve productivity, adopt new technologies such as AI and explore new market opportunities.
