The team at family-owned Jasco Distributing are a friendly bunch. Business owner Grieg
Holland works alongside son Tom and daughter-in-law Emma, and they’re not the only
husband and wife team across the 23 staff members.
The distribution company supplies a wide range of hospitality, food service and cleaning
products to customers across the central North Island. From small beginnings in Taupō with
a team of just four, Jasco Distributing now stocks a range of local and international brands
and has become one of New Zealand’s largest independent wholesalers in the industry.
Mike McGrath, Company Manager for Jasco Distributing’s Taupō Office, says the secret has
been about offering local support. “Many of the wholesalers in this space supply a similar
range of products, but they just can’t offer the local personal service” says Mike. “We pride
ourselves in making sure we’re visiting our customers regularly, giving support and advice
accumulated through many years of experience.”
Mike has been part of Jasco Distributing for 16 years and says the business has consistently
grown over that time. “Many of our clients are long-term customers who appreciate the
level of service we provide. Eco-friendly cleaning and food packaging products have been a
big focus for us recently, and we’ve been working with customers to help them transition to
greener cleaning methods. Our approach towards sustainability was one of the key reasons
we recently secured contracts with a number of Z Energy service stations across the Central
North Island.”
Mike says that community is a big part of doing business in Taupō. “This is the sort of place where local businesses support each other. It can be tough when you’re up against bigger competitors from Hamilton and Auckland, but customers will stick with you if you're offering something of real value.” He also loves the ease of life in Taupō. “Cleaner air, community
values, amazing sporting facilities, and
pretty good weather too. I’ve coached and played football for over 25 years in this area, and our pitch at Crown Park is one of the best in the region. Our swimming pool and hockey turf are also top quality. It really is a great place to live.”
