In March 2026, Mercury completed a two-year project to expand its Ngā Tamariki Geothermal Power Station by adding a fifth generating unit. This increased the station’s capacity by 46MW, bringing average annual electricity generation to 1120 GWh - enough to power about 158,000 homes.
