Katherine Newman

Katherine Newman is a Senior Resource Development Engineer and Geothermal Direct Use Lead at Contact Energy, with more than a decade of experience across geothermal energy and oil and gas. Her background spans technical, commercial, and market development roles, including contributing to international geothermal market assessments and strategic growth opportunities across the Asia-Pacific region.

Katherine previously chaired the New Zealand chapter of Women in Geothermal (WING), where she doubled membership, led its incorporation as a registered society, established governance structures, and secured corporate sponsorship funding. Based in Taupō, she is particularly interested in the intersection of energy, regional economic development, innovation, and governance.
