The Engine Room group meets bi-monthly to share ideas, boost productivity and drive business expansion through investment. 

 

The Engine Room helps develop dynamic new businesses that create employment opportunities and sustained economic benefits for Taupo. Any new businesses, start-ups, entrepreneurs, new-to-Taupo business owners or remote workers are invited.

 

Enterprise Great Lake Taupō Board Member and local businessman, Bruce Bartley, led the creation of this group in 2015 to fill a need he had seen in Taupō.

 

"There are many energetic entrepreneurs in Taupo and also many experienced investors, but how do they meet?” explains Bruce Bartley.

The Engine Room is affiliated with the Enterprise Angels group in Tauranga, but since we're a smaller centre we have a broader focus, it's not just deal-by-deal. This is a forum, a contact point, a meeting place where people interested in the "business of business" can share information and knowledge.

 

"The Engine Room provides a forum where ideas and development opportunities can be explored in an experienced and proactive environment," says Bruce. "Business mentor meets investment ideas meets banking capability and inspiration".

 

To grow our local economy, we need a strong business base that is growing and evolving. New businesses generate new money and jobs, and these flow through the local economy to benefit our whole community.
