Mason joined Mitchell Daysh in 2019 and brings with him over 30 years of environmental management experience in New Zealand, focused in the energy and regulatory sectors. He has been involved in, and led, multi-disciplinary teams on a number of large renewable energy consenting projects including the Nga Awa Purua and Nga Tamariki geothermal power developments. He has a particular interest in geothermal development, having had unique opportunities in previous roles working alongside Māori landowners to fulfil their own aspirations in this area. Mason is of Māori descent (Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Porou) and was the architect of the Indigenous Geothermal People’s Declaration prepared as part of the 2024 Geothermal Rising Indigenous Geothermal Symposium. Mason is also currently serving his second term as a NZGA board member.
