Abbie Dean
External Engagement Lead
NZGA
Abbie Dean is the External Engagement Lead at the New Zealand Geothermal Association, bringing 15 years' experience across technical and strategic roles in the energy sector. She holds an MSc (Hons) in Geology from the University of Auckland and a Postgraduate Diploma in Leading Change for Good from The Mind Lab.
Abbie began her career as a Geothermal Geochemist at Contact Energy, where she worked across the Wairakei and Tauhara geothermal fields. She has since led international development programmes across the Caribbean, Asia, East Africa, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East, and previously served as a Programme Officer with the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), supporting geothermal development across 169 member countries.
A strong advocate for sustainability, inclusion, and diversity, Abbie has held governance roles with Women in Geothermal and the New Zealand Geothermal Association.
