Te Rahui Solar Farm: Procurement Opportunities for Local Businesses

The Te Rahui Solar Farm is one of the largest renewable energy investments in the Taupō District. Located in Rangitaiki, around 45km from Taupō, the project will become New Zealand's largest solar farm once complete, generating up to 400MW of renewable electricity, enough to power around 100,000 homes. The project is being developed by Nova Energy and Meridian Energy, with Stage 1 (200MW) currently under construction and expected to begin supplying electricity to the grid from mid-2027.

Beon NZ Ltd has been awarded the Stage 1 construction contract and is responsible for the design, procurement, construction and commissioning of Te Rahui. Beon is committed to investing in local businesses throughout the construction phase. A range of specialist and general services including site development, civil works, fencing and security systems has been on offer for local businesses to express their interest.

Amplify Taupō has supported Beon’s local procurement efforts by providing information and opportunities to local businesses, enabling them to submit quotes for these goods and services. As a result, there has been a multi-million dollar investment in businesses in the Taupō district.
