Ever wanted to see the inside of a power station? Contact Energy is opening their Te Mihi station to the public to show how geothermal electricity is generated.

About the Event
Free buses departing from outside the Temporary Bus Stop by Ebbett Car Yard - 155 Ruapehu Street and will take members of the public on a tour of the steam field and Te Mihi power station. Along this journey you will learn how geothermal steam from several kilometres deep underground is harnessed to power the equivalent of over 160,000 NZ households.
Buses will depart every 30 minutes from the iSite from 8.30am - 12noon. Attendees MUST register for a specific time to attend.
NOTE:
There will be strictly no public access at Te Mihi power station. Entry will ONLY be via reservations on the bus tours departing from outside the Temporary Bus Stop by Ebbett Car Yard - 155 Ruapehu Street
Please advise in advance if you need disability assistance or have a pacemaker
It is essential to have covered arms, legs and shoes. If you don’t have this on the day you will not be able to do the station tour.
