Hosted by Taupō Museum, this is an hour-long guided tour of Taupō’s public art, related to our volcanic heritage, including the museum, cenotaph waharoa and Te Ātea.

About the Event
Hosted by Taupō Museum, the tour will begin at the Taupō museum’s foyer, where participants will be introduced to the museum’s geothermal displays, before walking to the Cenotaph waharoa to hear about how the sisters of the Te Arawa tohunga Ngātoroirangi sent volcanic fire to him. The tour ends at Te Ātea on the lakefront, where the symbolism and roles of the volcanic deities on the central pou are explained.
