STEAM Ambassador School Program

Helping spark interest in STEAM and the geothermal industry, industry professionals will head out into schools to run a two hour in-class activity, giving an overview of the industry and how STEAM is used in their workplace, then giving students a chance to get hands-on applying this knowledge in a fun STEAM activity.

This was a hugely popular event last year, with STEAM Ambassadors going out to 17 schools in the wider Taupo district, with activities encompassing engineering, geology, chemistry, seismology, aerodynamics and more!  Turbines were tested, drill rigs were built (and collapsed!), earthquake resilience was tested, and local geology was investigated to determine where best to drill for reservoirs on the school field…

Once registered, schools are paired up with a team of STEAM Ambassadors, and a date & time that suits both the school and STEAM Ambassadors is determined.

This year, we are excited to expand the reach of this program into Rotorua schools as well as the Taupo district. We have a maximum capacity of 30 schools, so please register your school’s interest quickly to reserve a visit.

If you work or study in the geothermal industry and are keen to share your passion for all things geothermal with the next generation, please register your interest in becoing a STEAM Ambassador.  Please note you will need to confirm your availability with your employer, and visits will be coordinated at a company level.
