About the Event
Mercury is proud to sponsor this year’s Geothermal Photography Competition, encouraging our local communities, photographers and industry staff to take a fresh perspective on how the New Zealand geothermal industry connects and works with this local taonga.
Individuals are encouraged to pick up their camera, phone or device and capture their perspective of The Source, The People and The Plant that underpin this world-class industry, located right here in our back yard.
Cash prizes of up to $500 are up for grabs, along with professional framing of the winning and highly commended prints in each category.
This year, we are pleased to confirm we have secured guided access to geothermal power stations in the Taupo district for a limited number of photographers to take photos for this competition. Sites and dates available Mercury Nga Tamariki powerstation on Monday 12 June (back up date is Thursday 15 June) and a Contact Energy powerstation (TBC) near Taupo on Tuesday 27 June (back up date is Thursday 29 June).
Registration is essential and spaces are strictly limited to 20 people per tour. Visitors will be required to comply with all host visitor and Health & Safety requirements (refer event week website for guidelines).
