Time & Location
24 Jul 2023, 2:00 pm â 5:00 pm
Suncourt Hotel & Conference Centre, 14 Northcroft Street, TaupÅ 3330, New Zealand
About the Event
Successful industry clusters enhance the competitiveness of firms and stakeholders operating in close proximity. Well-known examples include Silicon Valley, the London financial sector and Iceland Geothermal.
Clusters can occur naturally and / or by design.
Amplify, TaupÅâs economic development agency, is supporting industry to explore the potential for a geothermal industry cluster within the TaupÅ Volcanic Zone, where a natural clustering of this industry occurs, and has the support of the New Zealand Geothermal Association to explore this concept.
This workshop will introduce the concept of industry clusters and how a more formal clustering approach could benefit the New Zealand geothermal industry. Attendees will then undertake a facilitated workshop to gauge interest in this concept, identify potential focus areas and priorities, and flag other considerations for any potential cluster formation.
Attendees will include senior leaders and strategists of geothermal industry firms and stakeholders, with a potential interest in collaborating in the pre-competitive space. This includes but is not limited to kaitiaki, generators, service and construction firms, consultancies, R&D companies, education
and training providers, industry organizations and EDAs.
The session will be facilitated by international cluster expert, Ifor Flowcs-Williams, CEO of Cluster Navigators.
Workshop spaces are limited and attendance is by invitation. If you wish to attend, please contact Fiona Miller (fiona@taupo.biz)
