About the Event
Geothermal heat, or geoheat, is a widely available energy option within Aotearoa, and can be used for a huge variety of heating and processing purposes. This NZ Geothermal Week field trip will learn more about some of the geoheat uses within the Taupō and Rotorua regions. We encourage attendance from business owners who are looking at reducing fossil fuel dependance for their own operations.
PlentyFlora
Based just south of Rotorua, PlentyFlora is a commercial gerbera grower that uses geothermal heat for its greenhouses. The greenhouses' two geothermal bores heat water that is then circulated adjacent to the flowers, creating a constant temperature and optimising the gerberas' growth. During this field trip we will visit PlentyFlora and learn more about the process involved. Read more about PlentyFlora's story here.
This field trip is kindly sponsored by Worley.
