Energy Career Pathways: Empowering the Future Energy Workforce

As part of New Zealand Geothermal Week 2025, the Energy Career Pathways field trip offers local Year 11-13 students a unique opportunity to explore the world of geothermal and energy careers. Delivered in partnership with Taupō Pathways through their Pathways Connect programme, this initiative connects students with leading industry organisations, providing a first-hand look at real-world operations and the wide range of roles that power the sector.

Students will visit key sites hosted by Contact Energy, MB Century, Mercury, and GNS Science, where they’ll engage directly with professionals across the industry. Through site tours, hands-on demonstrations, and interactive conversations, students will gain valuable insights into the diverse pathways available, from skilled trades and apprenticeships to tertiary education and research careers.

This experience is designed to inspire and inform the next generation of energy professionals, showcasing the exciting opportunities within one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most vital and future-focused industries.
