Ever wondered how heat from deep underground is turned into electricity?

Well, now you can find out! As part of NZ Geothermal Week 2025, Contact is opening the doors of the newly commissioned Tauhara power station to the public for the first time.

This guided tour of the Tauhara power station will allow you a behind the scenes view of this 174MW capacity station that can generate enough electricity to power over 220,000 Kiwi homes – around 3.5% of the country's electricity!

This event is FREE; but pre-registration is required to secure your spot, with limited spaces available.
