What would you do if someone told you that in March this year you would be forced into lockdown in your home, you could only allow one person to ‘go out’ and pick up essentials for your whanau and your new 1pm ritual was huddling around your TV to watch an update from the Prime Minister. It's incredible to think this happened!

Covid 19 has created an immense amount of pressure across all of NZ, every industry and business has been affected in one way or another. At Contact we have been in a privileged position to provide over 500k Kiwis with broadband and electricity during these stressful times. It's also made us completely reimagine the way we work and how we support our people to keep the lights on across our beautiful country.

As part of all this change, we have an exciting new role in our IT Service Operations (ITSO) team. We are looking for a Support Specialist, essentially the techy guru. You will get the sweet job of being the on-site hardware expert based from our Wairakei Geothermal energy plant. You’ll eat, breath and dream about providing exceptional customer service by using a mixture of the latest technology, process and most importantly love having a good chat.

This role is all about customer service. You’ll need work collaboratively across different functions to deliver a high quality and highly available service to our business. It’s important to note that you’ll need to be available to work to support our business, currently these are between the hours of 7am and 6pm on business days, with rostered on-call support to aid business critical activities outside business hours. If responding to complex business needs, proactively managing queries and ensuring a seamless service is delivered across IT platforms sounds like a bit of you, then jump in and be involved.

If goes without saying that you’ll have a passion for the delivery of IT service excellence and awareness of the impact of technology solutions on people experience. Essentially, we’re keen to have conversations with people who have;

excellent communication skills with attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability.

people who are outcome focused and able to resolve queries irrespective of no matter what temperament may be on the other end of the line

the ability to demonstrate solid IT skills such as; Windows 10; Active Directory; O365 and Amazon workspaces

comfortable pulling things apart and putting them back together again and generally, thinking outside the square – good old kiwi #8 wire kind of thinking!

striking the balance between delivering exceptional localised support but also, advocating for our processes to ensure we provide a great experience nationwide for all our people.
