Parliamentary Communications, Research and Policy Assistant to Louise Upston, MP
An exciting new opportunity has arisen to provide high-quality communications, research, policy and media support to Louise Upston in the Taupo Electorate. There will be flexibility for you to work from home, along with working from the electorate office and travel will be required within the Taupo Electorate.

This position offers real variety and plays a vital behind-the-scenes part in the parliamentary process.

As the Parliamentary Communications/ Research/ Policy Assistant to Louise Upston you will be a self-starter, well organised and have the ability to communicate complex issues in everyday language via a range of media and communication channels. This role is a varied and multifaceted one where on any given day you will be tasked with anything from drafting speeches and press releases, to engaging with the community via twitter and Facebook, to assisting in the development of Louise Upston's communications policy and researching her particular areas of interest. You will have demonstrated experience in social media, communications and community engagement with the ability to build community networks and maximise the MPs time in the electorate by booking meetings and events.

You've got a firm grasp of the current political landscape and where your electorate sits within it. You appreciate the sometimes unpredictable nature of this environment and instead of letting it faze you, you thrive on it - putting your proactive, calm, and flexible personality to good use. You're happy to work autonomously and are well known for your resilient and unflappable nature.

Parliamentary Service is focussed on excellence and innovation and we are interested in you if you have well developed communication skills, resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Our ideal person will have knowledge of the political environment and parliamentary procedure.

This role is for 15 hours per week. Some flexibility in hours will be required, particularly when the House is in recess. This is an events-based, fixed-term role linked to the term of the member of Parliament. This role will require someone with a full drivers licence as you will be required to accompany the MP around the Electorate.
